Sometimes, even when being consistent with a daily skincare routine, it takes a long time to see significant results for certain skin concerns. Maybe that dark spot is still on your cheek, and those wrinkles just won’t go away. If that’s the case, I want to share tips and tricks on achieving that radiant complexion you’ve been dreaming a bit faster. Introducing the must-have add-ons to your daily routine: the marvels of the weekly skin care routine.
The Fastest solution for your Weekly Skin care Routine
If you’re like me and you consciously need to understand how and why things work, I spent the time explaining The Science Behind a Weekly Skincare Routine in this article. People always tell me, “Souhela, I just don’t have the time or interest to learn why it works; I just need to know that it does.” As I’m sure you can imagine, I’ve become the go-to person of my friends and family when it comes to taking care of their skin. To those busy bees, I say: don’t worry. I’m here to understand how and why it works, and you’re here to reap the benefits of a fully organic and natural skin care routine. For those who need it, here is the 10-Minute Weekly Skincare Routine for busy-busy people.
What is a Weekly Skin care Routine and how it works.
We know the importance of consistency when it comes to skin care. At the end of the day, it’s a treatment for your skin. Doing it daily and doing it properly is crucial to seeing results. Patience is also a factor. Give your skincare routine 6-8 weeks to start reflecting the magic it is doing internally.
Weekly skin care practices are great add-ons to your existing daily routine. These steps are not required to be done daily because they could saturate or even harm the skin. They are meant to be done one to three times a week, depending on your needs. Remember, you are unique, and so is your skin; listen to what it’s telling you.
Check out the recommended weekly skin care below, and make sure to read the last two. They can completely change your skin in no time!
For Oily, Stressed or Combination Skin: focus on Exfoliation
Exfoliation serves as a broom, sweeping away the debris of dead cells. It’s a mechanical procedure that removes our skin’s outermost layer, usually made of dull, unwanted skin cells. This promotes the renewal of your skin, bringing brightness and softness to your face. I always recommend using a gentle exfoliator 2-3 times a week (depending on your skin type) rather than a harsh one.
Also, make sure that the product you buy is biodegradable. Many of the big brands use a type of microplastic as the exfoliating agent, and it ends up in the oceans and inside the fish we eat. At Fields of Yarrow we’ve created two 100% sustainable solutions for different skin types that are good for the planet and your skin.

For Dry Skin & Tired Skin: Hydrating Facial Masks
You’ve seen them in movies, TV shows, ads, and stores. Masks are a great leave-on product that maximizes the absorption of the active ingredients. I often suggest them as a weekly treatment, because a busy person likely doesn’t have the peace and quiet to have a proper facial mask experience during the working days of the week.
I like to use our Rosegel & Mulberry Extract Face Mask , that I have obviously created for myself as a first step. It is infused with rose water, hyaluronic acid, and glycerin. This mask provides deep hydration that helps to restore your skin’s natural moisture barrier, leaving it feeling soft and smooth.

For Dark Spots & Dull Skin Tone: Vitamin C Boost
Vitamin C is not only good for when you’re fighting a cold. Harvard Health published an article where they showcase all the wonders topical vitamin C has and why it’s so important for skin health. Clinical studies show how it can help improve wrinkles and fine lines in only three months.
It also helps to protect the skin against long-term damage caused by harmful sun rays. And, if that is not enough, it has also been shown to help even out your skin tone, reducing dark spots. Thank you, vitamin C! In Fields of Yarrow we have a dedicated range of natural skincare products called Super C due to its high concentration of Ascorbic Acid (up to 8% !).

Specific Weekly Serums for different Skin Concerns
With lightweight and super-effective formulas, serums are your weekly ally. They are a great way to do some targeted treatment. The most used weekly serums are:
- Salicylic Acid Serum: It helps to gently peel the skin, promoting its regeneration. The benefits are the fading of pigment spots, decreased surface roughness, and reduction of fine lines.
- Glycolic Acid Serum: A type of α-hydroxy acid (AHA) that greatly helps naturally increase collagen levels on the skin. It also works as a micro-exfoliator, meaning that slowly peels away dead skin cells.
- Niacinamide Serum: Vitamin B3 is an essential nutrient for the skin. From reducing fine lines and wrinkles to fighting hyperpigmentation, this serum is a weekly must for mature skin. It also helps reduce the quantity of sebum, making it perfect for oily skin.
When your computer freezes, a hard reset can solve most problems. And, just like a computer, when our skin is not working the way it should, a weekly oil cleansing reset is the ideal way to bring back your skin to its natural functions. Check out this video, created by Danna Omari, an American skin care guru, explains the ideal way to perform an oil cleansing reset.
Always remember that just as we are all different, our different skins reflect the same beautiful diversity. This diversity requires a personalized and holistic approach to skin care, where your daily routine and your chosen weekly treatment work in synergy to promote your true, beautiful glow. One last word, is that if you are suffering from an actual skin condition, then the best approach is always to talk to your dermatologist first, and discuss with them the ingredients you intend to try in your weekly routine.
